Rep. Hwang Joins Band Together & American Red Cross for Haitian Relief Concert
On January 30th at 7:00 pm, local residents can enjoy the musical talents of Band Together at the Fairfield Theatre Company (FTC) while also benefiting those impacted by the tragedy of the Haitian Earthquake.
Connecticut State Representative Tony Hwang, Miles Marek, Executive Director of FTC, along with co-founders of Band Together CT, Jerry Vigorito and Rob Fried, will host an awareness concert to raise much needed money for the American Red Cross Haitian Earthquake Relief, at the Fairfield Theatre Company in downtown Fairfield. All proceeds will go to Haitian Relief.
“Band Together CT’s Jerry Vigorito said his organization has raised over $400,000 for local charities to date. “We will have over 20 musicians, both local and national acts including blues legend Debbie Davies,” he said. “After receiving Tony Hwang’s call, in 48 hours we put together a complete show that usually takes two months to plan. We intend to play loud enough so that they will hear us in Haiti.”
“It will be a community awareness concert with great music and an important message of helping,” said Rep. Tony Hwang. “And best of all, it’s for a great and critical cause … helping people of Haiti overcome the natural devastation and human tragedy of the Haitian Earthquake. I hope that many community members join me and my friends on January 30th to help make a difference in Haiti.”
“We are truly grateful for the outpouring of support and compassion that people in our communities have shown for the work that Red Cross is doing to bring hope and help to Haiti,” said Dianne Auger, CEO of the American Red Cross Connecticut Chapter. “The situation is desperate, and aid is getting through. Monetary donations remain the best way to support relief efforts, and we are thankful to Representative Tony Hwang, Band Together and the Fairfield Theatre Company for holding this concert to raise much needed funds. Working together, we will ensure that the people of Haiti receive the support they so desperately need.”

3) to develop a network of supporters for concerts and programs
4) to get one step Closer to Heaven.
AMERICAN RED CROSS – Haiti Earthquake Relief - www.ctredcross.org
The American Red Cross is committing $1 million from its International Response Fund to support the relief operation. American Red Cross has made available all of the relief supplies from its warehouse in Panama which would provide for basic needs for approximately 5,000 families. Included in those supplies are tarps, mosquito nets and cooking sets. The American Red Cross is deploying six disaster management specialists to the disaster zone to help coordinate relief. These Red Cross personnel join staff already on the ground there. The American Red Cross has an extensive partnership with the Haitian Red Cross, which is expected to lead the Red Cross response to the earthquake.
FAIRFIELD THEATRE COMPANY – www.fairfieldtheatre.org
Fairfield Theatre Company is dedicated to promoting live entertainment, and the open sharing of creative freedom, as cultural imperatives in the communities it serves. . To that end, we have endeavored to create new venues — and revive existing ones — for the presentation and preservation of plays, concerts, lectures, artistic workshops and exhibition, and for the accessibility of these programs via all available media, platforms and formats. We seek to expand opportunities for artists to express, and for audiences to enjoy, what non-profit theatre may offer.
